Responsibilities

As a Senior Building Control Surveyor, you’ll take the lead on high-profile and technically challenging projects. You’ll manage a diverse caseload, provide expert advice, and mentor junior colleagues. You’ll also be a key player in maintaining compliance with building safety legislation and responding to emergency situations.

We’ll support your progression to Class 3 Building Inspector status through structured development, mentoring and shadowing Class 3 inspectors working within the Building Safety Regulator multi-disciplinary team. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Assess commercial, complex and non-standard building control applications
  • Carry out site inspections and provide technical guidance
  • Support and mentor Class 1 and 2 Building Inspectors
  • Respond to dangerous structures and emergency incidents
  • Contribute to service development and quality assurance
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and statutory bodies
Essential qualifications/skills
HND/HNC in Building Surveying or equivalent
Registered as a Class 3 or Class 2F Building Inspector (or working towards Class 3)
Proven experience in commercial building control work
Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills
A full driving licence or access to mobility support
A proactive, customer-focused approach

  • Salary: £43,693 – £46,731
  • Pension: Outstanding employer contribution (approx. 18.9%)
  • Leave: 28 days rising to 32 after 5 years (2 of which can be fixed by the council), plus up to 10 extra days purchasable
