The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge and sound professional judgement, providing appropriate advice based on up-to-date technical knowledge and advanced theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge. Detailed knowledge of all aspects of building control, together with knowledge of other areas such as planning, housing, fire service and health and safety will be crucial.
You must have a practical and proportionate approach to enforcement and compliance, with a commitment to high standards of customer service.
You’ll have the ability to work collaboratively within a shared service and political local authority environment whilst maintaining a positive, flexible and adaptable approach to change. Good written, verbal, presentational and inter-personal skills enabling effective communication with staff, management, chief officers, directors, elected members and the general public will be key.

The Registered Building Inspector plays a key professional role within the Building Control Service, ensuring the health, safety and welfare of people in and around buildings.
