LABC's Head of Business Development Anna Thompson is helping Women in Construction spread the word about the fantastic careers open to women in construction.

Recently appointed as an Ambassador for this great organisation, Anna will be emphasising the breadth of roles and opportunities open to women. We currently make up 14% of construction industry professionals but the percentage is increasing as construction (and building control) is becoming more welcoming to all.

Anna, a Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Building Engineer, started out in the industry as a Building Control Inspector with Watford Borough Council and worked in local authority building control for 20 years before joining LABC as Director of Training.

How and why is she involved with Women in Construction? "I was impressed by the Women in Construction event I attended last year so I wanted to get involved. There are many inspiring women in our industry and I’m very proud that so many work in local authority building control."

Further information

The Women in Construction website has information on routes into construction, links to other organisations, interviews with women already employed in the industry and even a quiz to find out which construction personality type you are.
